12th November, 2024
Today, Hon. Bulodisiye Ndiwari, Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government, presided over the 5th monthly security briefing at the council hall, bringing together key security stakeholders to assess and enhance the safety landscape of the local government area.
In a press briefing following the meeting, Hon. Ndiwari expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting that representatives from all major security agencies were present. Central to the discussions was the escalating issue of drug abuse among youth and the persistent efforts to clamp down on drug trafficking networks. He highlighted that recent joint operations had led to the arrest of multiple individuals linked to drug-related activities, many of whom are now facing trial.
Hon. Ndiwari assured the public that these cases would be pursued diligently to ensure that those responsible are held accountable, emphasizing that taking such individuals off the streets would contribute significantly to community safety and stability.
A notable achievement discussed was the proactive patrolling by security forces, which has resulted in a marked reduction in incidents of breaking and entering.
Hon. Ndiwari praised the security agencies for their vigilance, noting that their consistent presence has fostered a sense of calm in Yenagoa. “Thanks to their tireless efforts, residents can go about their daily activities with increased peace of mind,” he said.
However, the chairman raised concerns about the rise in car thefts orchestrated by criminal syndicates using specialized tools such as “magic keys.” He urged residents to exercise caution and take preventive measures, recommending the installation of car protection gadgets like alarms and steering locks. Additionally, he advised car owners to park in well-secured areas to minimize the risk of theft.
Hon. Ndiwari reiterated the commitment of his administration to collaborating with security agencies to strengthen the safety of Yenagoa. He called on Yenagoa residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly, emphasizing that collective action is crucial for sustaining a secure and harmonious environment.
